Dr. Douglas Scoular, C.Psych.

Dr. Scoular has been a Psychologist since 2006. He has expertise in treating adults, adolescents, children, parents, military, veterans and families. Dr. Scoular believes in collaboratively forming therapeutic goals utilizing the latest psychological research. He helps his clients to realize their goals through the use of Cognitive Behavioural or Interpersonal therapies, as well as employing other well-researched therapeutic modalities. Dr. Scoular closely monitors client progress using psychological questionnaires and client feedback. His interpersonal approach is highly engaging and interactive, providing a calm, positive, and professional therapeutic presence.

Dr. Scoular completed his masters and doctoral degrees at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he was the recipient of national research awards. He has worked and trained in a variety of clinical settings including community, forensic, and hospital settings such as the UBC Hospital and the BC Children’s Hospital. Through his education and training, Dr. Scoular has developed a wide breadth of expertise in assessment and treatment and is skilled at providing differential diagnoses though psychodiagnostic assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.

Dr. Scoular completed his psychology residency and held a staff Psychologist position at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) for 12 years. He has been a Clinical Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa, where he has lectured to medical students.  He has also trained Clinical Psychology Residents through CHEO.

Dr. Scoular has been recognized for his contributions to Tourette Syndrome treatment, and has presented often to the community on topics such as addiction and harm reduction, anxiety, attachment, aggression, depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, stress, and Tourette Syndrome. He has been a keynote speaker for a presentation on anxiety, and presented at a national conference on Tourette Syndrome. Dr. Scoular has also been involved in media appearances on CTV evening news, as recently as January 2017.
