Anxiety Therapy Ottawa
Anxiety has been frequently described as feelings of fright, flight or freeze. This means that people experiencing anxiety have both the mental and the physical, viceral feelings of wanting to escape the situation, fight what is challenging or simply cannot move in any direction to deal with what is troubling them.
There are many forms of anxiety from constant worrying through compulsive behaviours to try to control the environment or reassure the person that there will be no catastrophe, through to sheer panic. Some forms of anxiety are named for the situations which provokes it. For example, social phobia refers to the unrealistic, extreme fear some people feel when in groups of people.
Psychologists can diagnose and treat anxiety disorders very effectively, giving hope to people who long for more comfort in their day-to-day life and more ability to choose what activities may interest them without being side-lined by unrealisic fear.
