Attachment and adjustment issues are of particular interest to Dr. Gough.
Dr. Gough’s psychotherapeutic orientation can be described as an integrated approach, utilizing thoughts, feelings, emotions, memories and sometimes dreams to address and resolve distressing symptoms and behaviours in a caring and understanding environment. This method analyzes and, in collaboration with the individual, attempts to mend the part of the underlying personality and previous experiences that caused these symptoms and behaviours. Change comes about through analysis of the underlying factors together with resolution of current problems or issues in the individual’s life.
The group therapy offered by Dr. Gough is an effective and economical way to provide clients with therapeutic opportunities to develop relationships and test new skills for interaction. Members work together to establish an atmosphere of belonging and acceptance, develop understanding and insight, provide feedback, test reality and identify and learn from each other.
